HOW TO LOSE YOUR VOICE IN 3 DAYS.....

There's a new exciting development on the Northwestern front, and it's called H-Mart. For those of you who don't know it's a Korean superstore. Great meat, unlimited Milkis (the drink of the gods), nice food court, house slippers, back-scratchers, nasty live seafood section, a whole section dedicated to kimchi, it goes on and on. Anyway, last Friday, we decided to make a day of it. Esther and I met up with some friends there and had lunch and then we explored. Amidst my travels, I stumbled upon a gem of a find. A karaoke machine! At first I was checkin out the magic mic, but then my eyes settled on the Kumyoung Vivaous, a sweet set up designed for commercial use. Egged on by the Shims and armed with my wife's permission, we made it happen. Needless to say, we made a weekend of it. Here is the weekend in pictures.

Saturday night... we thought there might be a couple families coming over to break in the NRB. Turns out there are quite a few NRB lovers in our church. Good food. Good people. Good singing. Good times.

Here's the group!

These young jr highers finally got up the nerve to sing a song. Their choice? Puff the Magic Dragon. hehe Don't know if they knew what that song is about.

Not bad for Jr high.

Patriarch of the Mic-hog family. Like father.....

like daughter. Look at the lip position!

The first 100 scored on our new machine by none other than me! Ahn Jae Wook. Forever. Better aks (purposefully spelled that way) somebody! The look on Brent's face=pure jealousy.

Robin had some interesting song choices. (hint: he's kind of old)

here's one of the questionable choices. Another example: Everybody Dance Now by C & C music factory.

The people were rightly amused.
This girl also likes the mic. She might be related to the Shims.

After hours of playing Wii and waiting for the adults to finish singing...

The kiddos got bored and somehow organized a game of Mafia amongst themselves.

Sunday, morning, we teed of at 6am and afterwards met up again at the Vancouver NRB for some summer BBQ and some more singing. Sonia actually showed up 3 hours early and just sang by herself. According to her husband, after getting home late Saturday night from our house, she stayed up even later, researching more songs to sing on youtube. Now that's dedication.

While the women ate upstairs, the men enjoyed some Tiger mania downstairs...

until the women finished eating and came downstairs and demanded to sing.

me and my homegirl Amelia

The Kim family singers. Ed can sing Sweet Child O' Mine without changing the key!

Lloyd joined the 100 club with "Born to be Wild" by steppenwolf. His leading lady (in the background) was super impressed. Just look at that grin on her face!

She was so impressed, she joined him for the next one.

It's no wonder that it's Tuesday and I'm still having weekend hangover. I surprised I didn't fall asleep on my patients yesterday or today! Wow, another long post. Time for bed. If my weekend hangover lasts until Wednesday, that's not good. Time for bed! (maybe after I squeeze in just one song)
